My next creative adventure this time has been to put the CAL Chat podcast on YouTube & it’s now officially ready to launch! I’ve learned a ton (aka: made a lot of mistakes 😜), but I’ve also been having a lot of fun with it. Here are some highlights of the channel:
- Full Anonymity ~ No faces are shown in the videos. Voices only appear as animated visualizer sound waves.
- Open Captions (oc) ~ Each episode has captions that are shown in full view & in large text so you can watch episodes with the sound off.
- Subtitles/Closed Captions (cc) ~ I’ve adjusted all the closed captions so they are accurate for the Al-Anon/Alateen terminology used in each video. These closed captions can be translated into another language via YouTube’s auto-translate feature under the “Settings” gear icon. (*See if you can find the special language I’ve translated the show’s Channel Trailer into
– hint: it has something to do with the TV show Star Trek!👽😜)
- Transcripts ~ Each video includes a full transcript. You can highlight, copy, & save any section of the show from the transcript – or paste it into your preferred language translation program.
- Chapters ~ Want to just skip to a certain part? I’ve created chapters/timestamps you can click on for quick access to pieces of literature discussed, topics, or if you just need to pick back up at a spot you last left off at.
- Playlists ~ Play full episodes (with all the parts in sequential order) or search individual parts by titles of specific Al-Anon or Alateen literature.
- Excerpts ~ Features the segments: “A Word From One of Our Sponsors” & the show’s wrap-up called “Last Words.”
- Community Tab ~ Here you’ll find a poll about the new upcoming daily reader. (I’ll be using this tab more for a special CAL project at the 2023 Al-Anon International Convention, so stay tuned!)
- 1-Minute Videos & Shorts ~ Bonus clips such as:
- Sneak peeks of new episodes;
- Behind-the-scenes looks;
- Outtakes;
- Audiogram excerpts;
- And whatever other fun things I can dream up!
So far, I’ve posted 23 total videos so there is plenty available to check out already. I’m excited that this opens up more possibilities on this journey!
