WHAT I LEARNED: For a long time I didn’t respect the disease of alcoholism.  But today, if alcoholism manifested itself in 3-D & walked into an Al-Anon meeting, not only would I shake its hand in a show of respect, but I would give it a warm hug as well… because I have also forgiven the disease.  And I would say “Thank you for the gift you gave me… the gift of Al-Anon!”
