WHAT I LEARNED: 1. For quite some time there was confusion in the fellowship about the responsibilities, boundaries, & differences between information services, Literature Distribution Centers (LDCs), intergroups, & information service liaisons. The World Service Office responded by creating this particular guideline & a separate one titled “Literature Distribution Centers” (item # G-18).
2. Any Al-Anon member that is a paid employee for their service work, gives up their chance to be a Group or District Representative, Area Assembly Officer or Coordinator, Delegate, or Trustee. Hmmm… I used to think it would be great one day to get a paycheck from Al-Anon, but maybe not if it means I no longer have a vote! I guess Tradition 8 could be stated as: “You can’t have your cake & eat it too.” Ha Ha 😉
