WHAT I LEARNED: To me, Tradition 6 seems to be Al-Anon’s declaration that it is a program that is not codependent. Everything could fall away… money, property, prestige, even AA, & Al-Anon would still be ok. It would survive. …just like me.
WHAT I LEARNED: Codependency is a self-love deficit disorder.
WHAT I LEARNED: Tradition 12 means it’s like I’m in an Al-Anon Witness Protection Program. (And boy have I witnessed a lot!) If I can’t speak my truth about it, then I can’t heal.
WHAT I LEARNED: The longer I’m in the Al-Anon program, the more I’m released from the bondage of self!
WHAT I LEARNED: “We’re not invisible. We’re just anonymous. – Kinda like how superheroes are!” — To see the full-size pic of this quote (and others), visit: http://www.instagram.com/calchatfan1.
WHAT I LEARNED: 1. I need to exercise my “patience” muscle! 2. After a night of heavy thinking, I can have an emotional hangover the next day! — To see the full-size pic of this quote (and others), visit: http://www.instagram.com/calchatfan1.
WHAT I LEARNED: I cannot look for perfection in others until I achieve it myself. …I guess that will be a while! 😜
WHAT I LEARNED: 1. My alcoholic dad has been dead for 3 years, but that elephant in the room is still alive. 2. What would my world be like if I treated everyone as if they were an Al-Anon member? 3. I’d watch a sitcom called “Al-Anon Knows Best!”
WHAT I LEARNED: “My serenity is inversely proportional to my expectations.” — To see the full-size pic of this quote (and others), visit: http://www.instagram.com/calchatfan1.
WHAT I LEARNED: When I try to overcome procrastination, I think about the bookmark (item # M-12) that says “Just For Today… I will be unafraid.” The bookmark isn’t called “Just For Tomorrow!”
WHAT I LEARNED: “…I did not cause her sobriety any more than I caused her drinking…” – quote from the Thanksgiving story “Detaching Was Kind” from the book “From Survival To Recovery” (item # B-21), page 113.
WHAT I LEARNED: When I substitute the phrase “I hope” in place of “I expect,” then it allows me to let go of the outcome & my expectations don’t grow into resentments. Even better, is when I add at the end of “I hope…” this phrase: “…and if it doesn’t happen, then I will still…
WHAT I LEARNED: Before Al-Anon, I had one life at work, & another life at home. Now, with the help of Al-Anon, I just have one life. Much more manageable that way!!
WHAT I LEARNED: Being authentic isn’t always pretty, but I think it’s a beauty to behold!
WHAT I LEARNED: Since alcoholism runs in my family, it was not my choice to be a carrier of the disease. However, it IS my choice to be a carrier of the message!
WHAT I LEARNED: If parents bring their kids to the doctor when they have an illness so they can get better , why don’t they bring them to Alateen since alcoholism is also an illness? …just saying…
