MTG – Orlando – “TLC AFG”

WHAT I LEARNED: I think there ought to be a second part to Step 6 that says: “…and we were entirely ready to embrace all of our character assets!”

MTG – Orlando – “Easy Does It”

WHAT I LEARNED: 1. Al-Anon is many things to many people.  It reminds me of the poem, “The Blind Men & the Elephant” by John Godfrey Saxe – only without the disputing of opinions! 2. My favorite line from the book study tonight is from page 107 from “Opening Our Hearts, Transforming Our Losses” (item #…

MTG – Orlando – “Easy Does It”

WHAT I LEARNED: Wise words: “…what we resist persists.”  (See page 18 from “Opening Our Hearts, Transforming Our Losses” (item # B-29).)  Even wiser words: “Resistance is futile.”  (See probably any sci-fi movie trailer.)  I need to get back to Step One & wave the white flag of surrender.

Gratitude Dinner – 10/19/13

WHAT I LEARNED: Most of my great “leaps” in service work have been with Orlando’s District 10.  Speaking at their Gratitude Dinner last night was no exception & I owe them a big THANK YOU!!!  The best perk that I didn’t expect: being able to start the food line (instead of being last like usual)!   Ha…

MTG – Orlando – “Today’s Hope AFG”

WHAT I LEARNED: 1. I was a speaker again tonight & now I know the term I was looking for the other day that describes the feeling at the end of my story – when people come up to me with tears in their eyes – & the person I thought I was not reaching,…

MTG – Ocoee – “Monday Miracles”

WHAT I LEARNED: Nowhere in Tradition 7 is the word “money” or “financial.”  Another way to look at it is I, & the groups I attend, can be “self-supporting” emotionally, spiritually & through participating in service work.

MTG – Orlando – “Easy Does It”

WHAT I LEARNED: “Today” is a word I need to use more often in order to gain perspective.  If I’m not having a great day, I’m only having it …“today.”  It’s not going to be for the whole week/month/year.  It reminds me tomorrow can always be different.

MTG – Orlando – “Today’s Hope AFG”

WHAT I LEARNED: Sometimes the “gifts” I get from this program are actual physical possessions that I can carry around with me.  Thank you for the one I got at this meeting tonight because I know I will treasure it for a long time to come!
