WHAT I LEARNED: 1. Ok, I must admit, during all the years I’ve passed out this magazine for outreach purposes, I never fully read through one until now.  I used to just read 1 or 2 of the articles & that was it.  And perhaps, maybe that’s how it’s read by people in doctor or counselor offices.  Or perhaps that’s just me justifying & rationalizing…  Click here to read it in full for yourself: “Al-Anon Faces Alcoholism 2014”

2. The magazine covers a wide variety of viewpoints & topics… even drug use problems!  It’s written with very general & comforting language.  After every article I found myself saying: “I want that!”  …Talk about attraction rather than promotion!   FYI: I usually include copies of meeting lists with this magazine & I don’t leave them in the “normal” places.  I leave them where my previous self would have looked – places I went to escape, to hide, to feel what I felt… which was alone.   …But that’s just my 2 cents.

**BONUS: This yearly outreach magazine first came out in 2006 (for the 2007 edition), however “Al-Anon Faces Alcoholism” was actually the title of Al-Anon’s second book (item # B-1) which came out in 1965 & has since been discontinued.
