CAL – In All Our Affairs: Making Crises Work For You (Item # B-15)

In All Our Affairs - B-15 thumbnail

WHAT I LEARNED: 1. Right away I liked that this book is broken up into 4 parts: Awareness, Acceptance, Action, & Moving On.  And for me, reading this couldn’t have come at a better time, because I was going through what I considered a crisis this past month.  But after so many stories about violence, incest, prison, infidelity, suicide, divorce, AIDS, & death my crisis didn’t seem so big after all.  It was tough to get through, the book I mean, because with such heavy topics I found I could only read a few pages a day, but it’s worth it to make it to the end.

2. Every now & again in the Conference summaries, I see members request new literature be created that deals with abuse.  The reply always comes back that this book, “…In All Our Affairs, from 1990 still holds up.

Smiley plant3. My favorite phrase that I’ll remember from this book is: “What you feed will grow.”

**BONUS CAL QUESTION: This is 1 of only 2 Al-Anon books available to check-out from my local library system.  What’s the other one?  (Hint: see item # B-24!)

Wow only one of 2 books at OCPL!! Whu nu? Thanks for that info fer sure, Pat. We need to get “on the stick” with the libraries as our N Fla area coordinator has suggested.

    1. Pat A. says:

Yes! I hope others too will look into what their local libraries offer. …Maybe stock them with “How Al-Anon Works” (item # B-22) the hardcover version so they will last a long time!
